Frequently Asked Questions

  • I’m an American of Jamaican descent. Both of my parents were born and raised in the beautiful island of Jamaica before migrating to the US in the late 1970s.

  • I speak English and Jamaican Patois, but I read and comprehend Swedish very well (one of my life goals is also to speak Swedish fluently). The dominant languages at my home are Swedish and English as both of my sons are bilingual. My wife speaks Swedish, Finnish, English, and Spanish fluently.

  • Ronin is Japanese for a masterless Samurai, a hired, precise weapon without a full-time contract. I like to think that my freelance years were akin to the life a feudal Japanese Ronin wondering the countryside in search of work and meaning (except without all the blood and combat of course).

Fun Fact:

Being that my wife is Finnish, I was thrilled at the fact that through my job at NYU Tandon, I was able to get Petra, heavily pregnant, a meet and greet audience with Finnish PM Sanna Marin, during the PM’s visit to NYU, May 2023.
